Fishnet stockings

Hello Lovely Ladies!

The title of this post makes it sound like something a bit racey, but it didnt start out like to be like that.

When I was thinking of what to do for this mani, I didnt really start out with a clear idea in my head, I just started to put it together as I went along.

And here is the result:
Doesn't it look like Fishnet Stockings?!

To create this mani, I started with two coats of China Glaze liquid Leather, then added some 'lace' nail stickers over the top. I finished by sealing with two coats of seche vite.

I ended up wearing these for a night out, wearing a little black dress with some lace detail. The perfect combination....

Guest Post - How Nail Art can help beat Cancer

Hello Lovely Ladies!
Today I have a guest post for you:

A few weeks ago, I had an email from a lady Named Jackie Clark, who was campaigning for awareness for Mesothelioma Cancer. She asked if I was interesting in letting her write a guest post for this blog, to help her campaign.

Of course, I said yes, and today's post is the the end product. Please read Jackie's article, and follow the links to find out more about Mesothelioma cancer.

Nail Art Can Help Cancer Patients Look and Feel Their Best
By: Jackie Clark
Cancer is one of many challenging situations a woman may face throughout the course of her life. Receiving a cancer diagnosis can make even the strongest, most confident woman begin to feel unsure of herself and her future. It is at these times – when we are facing challenges that may seem insurmountable; however, fashion and beauty will never lose in the fight against cancer.
Using fashion and nail polish to help a woman look her best can make anyone walk a little taller, feel a bit more in control, and feel better inside and out. Every woman knows that wearing her favorite color polish or getting the perfect nail design is a great way to obtain instant gratification and to immediately feel like she can walk into a room and own it. When facing mesothelioma cancer from asbestos exposure, undergoing treatment for breast cancer or going through a difficult time in her life, it is more important than ever to recapture that feeling.
Indulging in spa treatments like the ultimate manicure and pedicure can help women feel beautiful in her own skin, while also promoting relaxation and reducing stress. All of these things are vital to the healing process and are helpful in achieving a positive attitude that can assist them during exhausting mesothelioma treatments or even improve their prognosis. A cancer patient’s outlook on life and their future can influence how quickly and effectively their body heals, which makes feeling your best and keeping your confidence level high a priority.
One simple way to look good and feel great without taking up too much time is to indulge in nail art. Whether you prefer simple designs or elaborate artwork, nail art is the perfect way to beautify your hands and nails, while also providing a cheerful, colorful design that is always right in front of you when you need a visual pick-me-up to brighten your day.
Going to the salon for a manicure and nail art is also a perfect activity for women with cancer to do with their daughters, sisters, mothers or friends. This makes for a fun afternoon doing something enjoyable that allows you to spend time together and leave feeling more feminine than when you walked in.

French lace

Hello Lovely Ladies!

Firstly, I would just like to apologise for being missing in action for the last couple of weeks. I've been so busy, and I've really struggled to find any free time, and as a result my blog (and my nails) have fallen by the wayside!

But, things should start to get back to normal now, and I should be back to doing regular posts soon!

So, to start it off, I have a simple little twist on a traditional french to show you.

A few weeks ago, an old friend of mine asked if I would do her nails for her when she gets married in the summer. Of course I said I would, and so you will probably see quite a few french designs over the next couple of months, just to try a few different ideas.

To create this look, I started with just a simple traditional French, using China Glaze White on White and China Glaze Innocence.

Once this had dried, I applied some lace design nail stickers near to the tip, then sealed it with a couple of coats of Seche Vite.

These were really simple to create and looked really gorgeous.

Devil tails

Hello Lovely Ladies! Hope you all had a good week! It's finally the weekend and today I am visiting my 95-year old Grandfather who lives on the South Coast, so this is a scheduled post.

Today I have the first of my Valentine's day-themed manicures (there will be more to come!), although from the title of this post, you wouldnt have thought it would turn to valentines! Ha!

I actually started out lookng to create 'heart' shapes on my nails, but I guess I chose the wrong colour combination.

I showed these to a couple of my colleagues at work, and they all immediately said Devil-tails! I guess they do look a little like devil tails! hehe

For these I used China Glaze Poinsettia and Liquid Leather. To create the 'Devil-tails' at the base I used chevron manicure strips that I bought on ebay for a couple of quid! Much easier than trying to cut them myself!

Pink and Gold Moons

Hello Lovely Ladies! Happy Pink Wednesday!
Hope you've all been having a great week so far?

We had a movie night at work yesterday evening, which was really fun! :)

Today I have a simple half-moon mani to show you. I actually saw this colour combination on another blog, but as a funky-french rather than a half moon, and thought it looked really cool and bold.
The colours I used for this manicure were Orly's The Ritz and China Glaze Dance Baby from the new Electropop collection.

French flowers

Hello Lovely Ladies! Hope you are all ok and enjoying the start of another week!

Here in the UK it's been snowing all week - extremely cold which I HATE, but it's all starting to thaw now so I'm beginning to perk up a bit. The cold weather realy gets me down, and I am counting down the days until we can put our clocks forward an hour - to me that is the start of spring coming! woohoo!

Anyway, to cheer myself up a bit I decided to do a manicure that would probably be better suited to warmer weather - spring daisies!
For these I started out by doing just a simple french using China Glaze Oxygen (which is not as crisp as white on white for the tips, but it gives a much more natural tip-colour) and China Glaze Innocence for the natural pink colour.

I then used White on White and a dotting tool to create the flowers, adding some gold beads in the middle to create the 'daisy' look, and added some pink highlights using China Glaze Something Sweet.

I really love these. They are so delicate and feminine, and I got loads of comments on these from people at work.

Plus, they are quite summer-y and makes me look forward to spring even more! I think I need to move to a hot country!

Mock Burberry Design

Hello Lovely Ladies!
Happy Friday! The weekend is finally here! Hope you all had a good week!

You'll notice from the picture that I'm once again wearing the dreaded nubbins! After a very bad break and one nail that decided to split, I thought it better to make them all even! I'm very lucky that my nails grow so quickly, though!

Today I have some 'mock' burberry designs to show you, although these were not my intention when I first started applying them.
I began with two coats of China Glaze Peachy Keen, and was going to leave it at that, but quickly got bored of having plain nails within a matter of hours.

So, I reached for my black striping tape and added these lines.

It was only once I had finished and showed my boyfriend, exclaiming: 'What do you think?' that he looked and them and said: 'Burberry?'

It hadnt even crossed my mind, but since he mentioned it, they do kind of look like Burberry, dont they?! Maybe if I had added a white line, they would have looked even more like it, but I thought it would have taken the design a bit too overboard. Especially now that I'm back to wearing Nubbins again for a while!
